Young people in New York and Tashkent met over a live video bridge to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, sharing stories of growing up between two homelands.

Times shown in EDT.
On 1 September 2026 Uzbekistan marked thirty-five years of independence. To celebrate, Turan American Heritage Association hosted a live dialogue between young people in the United States and their peers in Uzbekistan.
Participants on both sides of the ocean introduced themselves, spoke about their studies and work, and discussed what independence means to a generation born after 1991 and to a generation growing up abroad. The conversation closed with greetings for Independence Day and plans to keep the exchange going through joint projects during the year.
